Product Features

 

Oleyl amines exist as white to slightly yellow waxy solids or flaky crystals at room temperature, with a melting point of approximately 1826°C. They can melt into liquids when heated and exhibit a characteristic amine odor. The terminal primary amino groups (-NH) and the carbon-carbon double bonds (C=C) in the molecular backbone confer basicity, enabling them to react with acids to form corresponding oleylamine salts. The cis-double bonds in the molecule can undergo a series of reactions such as hydrogenation (yielding stearylamine), epoxidation, and addition. Possessing both lipophilic long carbon chains (containing unsaturated double bonds) and hydrophilic amino groups, oleyl amines are high-performance surfactant intermediates. The primary amine groups and double bonds provide diverse chemical modification possibilities, and their structure facilitates improved compatibility of products in organic systems. Oleyl amines themselves and their derivatives exhibit excellent performance in emulsification, dispersion, lubrication, corrosion inhibition, and other functional applications. Primarily derived from palm oil and coconut oil, they are renewable raw materials, aligning with the development trend of green chemistry.




Application

 

Surfactant Intermediates:React with ethylene oxide (EO) to produce nonionic surfactants, which serve as acidic thickeners in toilet bowl cleaners. They can also react with ethylene oxide/propylene oxide (EO/PO) to synthesize nonionic surfactants, primarily used in oilfield demulsifiers and similar applications.

Carbon Deposit Removers:Function as carbon deposit removers in cleaning agents for removing carbon deposits from automotive engines.

Others:Additionally used as curing agents for epoxy resins and other related applications.




Safety and Storage

 

From a safety perspective, it is irritating and corrosive to the skin and eyes, and contact may cause burns. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

Stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from sources of ignition, heat, and oxidizing agents, and separated from incompatible substances such as acids.
