Product Features
TA8 is a colorless to pale yellow transparent oily liquid at room temperature, with a distinct ammonia-like odor or pungent smell. It is insoluble in water yet readily soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform, ethanol and diethyl ether. The long carbon chain structure endows TA8 with strong hydrophobicity, resulting in extremely low solubility in the aqueous phase and facilitating phase separation and recovery. The tertiary amine group in its molecule renders it alkaline. Under acidic conditions, TA8 can combine with the complex anions of metal ions (e.g., complex anions of uranium, thorium, cobalt, nickel, etc.) to form electrically neutral hydrophobic complexes, thereby extracting metal ions from the aqueous phase into the organic phase.
Application
Nuclear Industry & Rare Earth Metallurgy: It is a key reagent for the extraction and separation of strategic metals such as uranium, thorium, cobalt, nickel, actinides and lanthanides.
Organic Synthesis & Chemical Engineering: It is used in the synthesis of quaternary ammonium salt-type surfactants, phase transfer catalysts, rubber antioxidants and corrosion inhibitors.
Environmental Protection & Resource Recovery: It is applied to the treatment of industrial wastewater containing organic acids and phenols, and can recover valuable metals from secondary resources such as electronic waste.
Safety and Storage
From a safety perspective, TA8 is irritating and corrosive to the skin and eyes, and contact may cause burns. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.
In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.
Stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from sources of ignition, heat, and oxidizing agents.Store separately from incompatible substances such as acids.
