Under ambient temperature and pressure, DMA121416 is a colorless and transparent oily liquid. It is poorly soluble in water while readily miscible with most organic solvents including ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone and benzene. The tertiary amine group in its molecule can react with alkylating agents such as methyl chloride, benzyl chloride and dimethyl sulfate to produce various cationic quaternary ammonium salt surfactants. It can react with hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) to form dodecyldimethylamine oxide, a mild amphoteric surfactant. Additionally, it is capable of reacting with reagents like sodium chloroacetate to generate dodecyl betaine, a zwitterionic surfactant. The quaternary ammonium salts, amine oxides and betaines synthesized from DMA121416 generally exhibit excellent properties such as strong bactericidal activity, superior softening effect, good antistatic performance and abundant stable foam.

Application

Cationic Surfactants：Examples include 1227 (benzalkonium chloride), a broad-spectrum and highly efficient bactericidal disinfectant. It is widely used for disinfection in hospitals, restaurants and swimming pools, as well as a bactericidal algaecide and slime stripper in industrial water treatment. 1231 (dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride) can also be used as a fabric softener, antistatic agent and pigment dispersant.

Zwitterionic Surfactants：A typical example is betaine, which boasts excellent mildness, thickening properties and foam stability, and acts as a key ingredient in high-end personal care products such as shampoos, body washes and facial cleansers.Amine Oxides，they are mild, low-irritating, and produce fine and stable foam. These compounds serve as excellent foaming agents and foam stabilizers in products including dish detergents, shampoos and body washes.

Safety and Storage

From a safety perspective, DMA121416 is irritating and corrosive to the skin and eyes, and contact may cause burns. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

Stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from sources of ignition, heat, and oxidizing agents.Store separately from incompatible substances such as acids.
