Product Features

 

The key features of TMHDA are mainly determined by the two tertiary amino groups in its molecule and the bridge chain length of sixe methylene groups. It exhibits alkalinity, along with stronger hydrophobicity and lower volatility; however, due to its long chain length, it is not an effective chelating ligand.It is noteworthy that TMHDA is classified as a corrosive and flammable liquid, requiring careful handling.




Application

 

The applications of TMHDA are relatively niche, mainly leveraging the characteristics of its long-chain tertiary amine structure.

Organic Synthesis Base Catalyst:TMHDA acts as a strong organic base and is used in organic synthesis reactions that require alkaline conditions.

Organic Synthesis Phase-Transfer CatalystIts long carbon chain endows it with certain surface activity, which can be used to promote reactions between the aqueous phase and organic phase.

Polyurethane Catalyst:The long-chain structure of TMHDA may be introduced into the polymer network as part of the soft segment, helping to reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

Epoxy Resin Curing Agent:The long-chain structure of TMHDA can impart better flexibility and toughness to the cured product.

Surfactant and Extractant:TMHDA can serve as an intermediate for the synthesis of surfactants or ionic liquids with special structures. It can also be used for the solvent extraction of metal ions.

Corrosion Inhibitor:TMHDA is used as a component of corrosion inhibitors in industrial water treatment or lubricating oils.




Safety and Storage

 

From a safety perspective, it has a relatively low flash point, and its vapors can form explosive mixtures when mixed with air. Inhalation of the vapors is harmful, so operations should be conducted in a well-ventilated area or a fume hood, and personal protective equipment (PPE) must be strictly worn during handling. In case of skin contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance. It should be stored in a cool, well-ventilated place, away from ignition sources and heat. Containers must be kept tightly sealed, as it still has certain sensitivity to air and moisture. It should be stored separately from strong oxidants and acids.
