Product Features
At room temperature, the high-purity grade of 1232 appears as a white crystalline powder or crystal, while the industrial grade is typically a pale yellow paste. It is readily soluble in water and organic solvents such as isopropanol. It exhibits hygroscopicity and irritancy. Integrating multiple functions including emulsification, antistatic property, sterilization & disinfection, and softening & conditioning, it maintains stable performance over a wide range of temperatures and pH values, making it applicable in diverse scenarios. As a cationic surfactant, it can significantly reduce surface tension and form micelles in water. It easily adsorbs onto the surface of negatively charged substances (e.g., bacterial cell membranes, fibers), thereby exerting efficient sterilization, antistatic and other effects. However, it is incompatible with anionic surfactants, as this combination will result in precipitation.
Application
Oilfield industry: Serves as a wetting agent for oil-based drilling fluids to improve their performance, and as a bactericide for oilfield water injection.
Daily chemical and textile industries: Used as a disinfectant/bactericide, antistatic agent, softener, and leveling agent.
Rubber and asphalt industries: Acts as an emulsifier in the emulsification process of natural/synthetic rubber and asphalt.
Scientific research: Employed as an ion-pair chromatography reagent and protein coagulant.
Other industries: Utilized as a fire-fighting foam additive, water quality stabilizer, concrete emulsifier, etc.
Safety and Storage
From a safety perspective, 1232 is irritating to the skin and eyes. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.
In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.
It should be sealed and stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated indoor place, protected from moisture and strictly guarded against exposure to sunlight.
